Tuna Steaks with Lemon-Mint Marinade



Add a refreshing zing to fish by marinating it in this lemon-mint mixture. Aside from tuna, this marinade works just as well with salmon, blue marlin, and mackerel.

Serves  
Prep Time 5 minutes, plus 2 hours marinating time  
Cooking Time 10 minutes


Ingredients:

For the Lemon-Mint Marinade

      (Makes 3/4 cup  Prep Time 10 minutes)
3/4 cup finely chopped fresh mint
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried chili flakes
6 cloves garlic, minced

5 pieces (about 500 grams) fresh tuna steaks, 
      sliced into 1/2-inch-thick pieces
3/4 cup Lemon-Mint Marinade
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
salad greens, to serve (optional)
lemon wedges, to serve



Procedure:

 Make the Lemon-Mint Marinade: Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.


 Cook the tuna steaks: Arrange tuna steaks on a shallow tray. Pour the Lemon-Mint Marinade over, making sure to coat all sides of the tuna. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours.

3  Heat grill over medium-high heat. Drizzle with olive oil. Lay tuna on the grill and cook each piece until medium-rare, about 4 to 5 minutes per side.

4  Serve grilled tuna steaks with salad greens and lemon wedges on the side.
